About this Event
What happens when someone challenges the number?
A GHG figure does not begin in a sustainability report.
It begins with electricity bills, fuel records, refrigerant logs, travel records, supplier information, assumptions, emission factors and decisions about what should — and should not — be included.
The calculation may be correct.
But a defensible GHG inventory also needs to answer:
Where did the data come from?
What evidence supports it?
Were the right boundaries and emission sources included?
How were gaps and assumptions handled?
Could someone independently follow the evidence back to the reported number?
That is where carbon accounting begins to move from calculation to professional practice.
What we will explore over breakfast
This complimentary briefing will introduce the practical journey behind credible GHG information, including:
- How organisational GHG inventories are developed
- The role of ISO 14064-1 in quantification and documentation
- Why evidence, traceability and assumptions matter
- What changes when GHG information is independently challenged
- The role of ISO 14064-3 in verification
- How better carbon evidence supports sustainability and ESG reporting
- What organisations should consider as the market moves toward greater assurance
This is not a technical training class and you do not need prior ISO 14064 experience.
The purpose of the morning is to help you understand what sits behind a reported carbon number — and what it takes to make that number more credible.
Who should attend?
This session will be useful for:
Business owners and management
who want to understand what their organisation is actually reporting.
ESG, sustainability and environmental professionals
involved in carbon inventories, reporting or climate disclosure.
Finance, compliance and internal audit professionals
who increasingly need to understand the evidence behind sustainability information.
Consultants and professionals entering carbon practice
who want to understand the difference between knowing the standard and actually performing the work.
Companies building internal GHG capability
and considering how training can connect with real implementation.
One question to bring with you
If your organisation reports a carbon number tomorrow and someone asks:
“Show me where this came from.”
Could you?
Join us in Penang for breakfast and a practical conversation around that question.
