About this Event
Most of us live from the neck up. Planning, managing, scrolling, bracing for whatever comes next.
For one evening, come drop into your heart instead.
Ceremonial cacao is thick and a little bitter, and nothing like the hot chocolate you grew up with. It warms the body slowly. Somewhere in the first half hour, something in your chest starts to soften. It won't take you out of yourself. It brings you further in.
People leave our ceremonies with very different things. Some feel a quiet, steady gratitude just for being alive. Some cry for the first time in a long while and walk out lighter. Some finally hear the answer to a question they've been carrying for months.
We can't tell you which one will be yours.
What Happens:
We start by settling in and setting an intention. Bring something real. A question about your relationship, maybe, or a decision you keep circling.
Then we bless the cacao and drink it together.
We dance for about ten minutes to let the warmth move through your body. No experience needed, and nobody's watching. A guided meditation with music follows, and this is usually where people feel the cacao open things up.
From there we turn toward each other with simple connection exercises in pairs and small groups, then close as a circle, sharing what came up. Stick around afterward. We usually hang out and talk until 10.
The Cacao
Ours comes from Prophecy Chocolates. Mateo, the owner, works directly with small organic farms high in the mountains of Peru. He brings the beans back himself and presses them into pure, unadulterated blocks, and the cacao is prayed over at every stage. It's also, honestly, the best chocolate we've ever tasted.
A little history
Cacao is old medicine. Archaeologists have found traces of it in pottery from the upper Amazon more than 5,000 years old, and the Maya and Aztecs later placed it at the center of ritual and royal life. Its botanical name, Theobroma, means "food of the gods."
There's a reason we still give chocolate to the people we love.
Your hosts
Michael Gold Trachtman and Penny Gold have led workshops on love, intimacy, sacred relationship and shamanic ritual around the world. People keep coming back because they know how to hold a room where it feels safe to soften.
Michael is an ordained rabbi who has spent years walking alongside people through every season of life. Penny is a licensed clinical psychologist and ISTA faculty member, and has spent many years guiding people toward relationships that actually feel alive.
They're married, still very much in love, and still finding new ways to bring romance and adventure into it.
Before you come: a health note
Ceremonial cacao is much stronger than everyday chocolate. It contains theobromine, a gentle stimulant that can raise your heart rate and affect blood pressure. If you have any concerns - please ask us
