Botanical Dyeing & Shibori Workshop: Silk Scarves & Natural Pigments.

This is a journey into the world of natural colors, sustainable textiles, and Japanese shibori techniques.

You will learn how to transform raw silk and plant materials into a unique piece of wearable art.

We will explore the magic of bundle dyeing using local botanicals and homegrown flowers harvested straight from the garden. You will discover how to create rich, organic patterns that no industrial machine can ever replicate.

• Natural Dyeing Chemistry: Understand how natural dyes interact with natural fibers and learn how to properly select and forage dye plants.
• The Art of Mordanting: Master the essential fundamentals of mordanting to create a lasting chemical bond between plant pigments and textile fibers.
• Bundle Dyeing on Silk: Each participant will design and take home one silk scarf (approx. 90 × 90 cm) using bundle dyeing and botanical printing techniques.
• Shibori & Itajime Techniques: Experiment with traditional Japanese resist-dyeing methods, including folding, clamping, and stitching across different sample fabrics ( cotton, linen...).

• Location: Nourished Collective - inside the back yard
• No prior experience needed—all beginners and enthusiasts are welcome!
• Included: All natural dye materials and dyes, 100% pure silk scarf, organic fabric samples, tooling plus snacks and warm drinks to keep us cozy throughout the afternoon.
