The ZERO Coalition’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee invites you to Building Belonging: Equity and Access in Action, an afternoon conversation and sustainable home tour exploring how we can create buildings and communities where everyone can participate, contribute, and belong.

For more than six years, ZERO’s annual JEDI event has centered racial equity in the built environment and uplifted BIPOC leaders working to create more equitable and sustainable communities. This year, we are expanding the conversation to include accessibility and inclusive design.

People with physical, sensory, cognitive, and other disabilities, as well as older adults, often encounter barriers created by the built environment. Thoughtful, inclusive design can help create spaces that work for more people throughout their lives.

Join us for a storytelling-focused panel featuring accessibility advocates, design professionals, and people with lived experience. Speakers will share real-world examples, highlight barriers they see in their fields, and discuss practical ways designers, builders, policymakers, and building professionals can take action.

Following the conversation, attendees will tour a sustainable home showcasing accessible design principles and features that support aging in place, connecting the discussion to real-world examples of inclusive design.
