Brunch Book Club After Hours
After Hours: The Switzy edition
A new read. A welcome drink. Plenty to discuss.
Join Brunch Book Club at The Anthologist on Thursday 8 October at 7pm for an intimate evening discussing Switzy by Emma Cline, in collaboration with Vintage.
Hosted by Brunch Book Club founder Taragh, this gathering brings just 15 readers together over drinks and nibbles. Bring the passages you underlined, the moments you’re still thinking about and the opinions you’re ready to share. There’s room for all of them around our table.
Whether you’re a familiar face or joining us for the first time, you can sit with us.
About the book
From the author of The Girls and The Guest, Switzy follows David, a retired executive travelling towards Zurich as his memory begins to fail. Visits to his daughter and an old friend become part of a final journey through the life he has lived. Moving between dark humour and emotional reckoning, Emma Cline explores memory, mortality and identity: what remains when the stories we tell about ourselves begin to slip away?
Your £25 ticket includes:
- A copy of Switzy by Emma Cline.
- One welcome cocktail, with a non-alcoholic option available.
- Nibbles to enjoy during the discussion.
- A tote bag, bookmark and Swiss chocolates.
- A white rose to take home.
- A discussion guide and an in-person discussion hosted by Taragh.
Room for three more?
Everyone attending will be entered into a draw, with one winner receiving an Emma Cline bundle of The Girls, The Guest and Daddy, courtesy of Vintage. Book your place and join us for a chance to win the Emma Cline bundle of your book-loving dreams. The winner will be chosen on the night.
Getting your book
Your book is included in your ticket. Direct collection is available, or we can post it ahead of the event for an additional postage and packaging charge. Please contact us directly if you would like to collect your book or email your postal address to [email protected]
Please read Switzy before joining us; our discussion will include the ending. You don’t need to prepare notes or arrive with a perfectly formed opinion — that’s what the conversation is for.
