In 1972, he was a founding member of Gryphon, using the Bassoon in a totally new way. Gryphon rapidly attracted a cult following, made five albums and enjoyed years of successful touring throughout Europe and North America. He has since played with such diverse acts as the Nolan Sisters, Ian Dury and the classical guitarist John Williams.
I-NICHI
is an international collaboration between Tokyo based singer-songwriter Seiko Nemoto & her "English Gentlemen" - her hand-picked gang of oddball UK west country musicians. Seiko's instincts naturally guide the band's output on a zig zag path between angular punk, haunting Japanese poetry & wistful psychedelic pop. Their 2025 eponymous debut album on Spinout Nuggets found repeated & supportive airplay on BBC Radio 6.
Having played/recorded or otherwise collaborated with The Sinclairs and Arthur Brown, among many, many others, Seiko's musicians have just the right experience to take the risks that her unique vision requires.
So if the idea of a musical sculpture garden where Bagpuss does the weeding & Captain Beefheart trims the topiary into strange lop-side kittens at a cubist tea party, then I-nichi might just be your new favourite band!
