🧙♂️ What is Draft?
In a Booster Draft, players are seated in pods of up to eight players, with each player receiving three booster packs. This format of Magic is excellent for any new players or curious people as it's very quick and easy to learn and fun to play!
You’ll open one pack at a time, remove any basic lands or tokens, choose one card to keep, and then pass the remaining cards to the player on your left. You’ll continue selecting cards from the packs passed to you until all the cards from that pack have been drafted.
The process repeats for each booster pack, alternating the direction the packs are passed.
Once a booster pack is opened, all cards must remain in the draft. Packs cannot be swapped, traded, or purchased outright. Every pick matters, and sometimes you’ll have to decide whether a card is better for your deck today or your collection later.
After drafting is complete, players build a 40-card deck using the cards they drafted along with basic lands provided by the store, and then compete across multiple rounds.
At the end of the event, please return the lands you have used, but take your deck home with you!
Draft is one of the most exciting and skill-testing ways to play Magic, rewarding clever card evaluation, strategy, and on-the-fly deckbuilding.
