About this Event
As part of boom saloon at A&DS:SpACE, Calling boom saloon asks: what materials will save the buildings of the future, and who controls the natural world they come from? Join us for an immersive discussion exploring these questions through the lens of the climate emergency, land rights, ownership and sustainability.
Grab a seat, help yourself to some popcorn and settle in. There’s no welcome speech: the screen lights up, a phone rings, and you’re listening in on a conversation between Tatiana Bilbao in Mexico City and boom saloon member Jude Barber in Glasgow, about materiality and our natural world.
Then we take the call live, as we invite brilliant minds Lilian Evangelia Emvaloti and Georgia Vasileiadou in Athens, Peter Holmes and Elma Charalampidou in Edinburgh to pick up the thread in a discursive, reactionary roundtable. Share your questions live and we’ll put them to the call.
Finally, we open up the conversation to the room, inviting you to carry the discussion further.
Tickets are £5 for boom saloon members & £10 general admission for non-members.
Presented by boom saloon, hosted at A&DS: SpAce at Edinburgh Futures Institute.
