About this Event
A relaxed 90-minute bookbinding workshop in Deptford. Create your own stitched notebook using Japanese stab binding – perfect for beginners. Materials provided, bar open during evening sessions.
Join us for a relaxed 90-minute Japanese stab stitch bookbinding workshop and learn how to turn paper scraps, prints, or artwork into a beautifully bound notebook.
This beginner-friendly session is perfect for anyone curious about bookbinding or looking for a mindful, creative evening. Japanese stab stitch is a simple and elegant technique that binds loose pages together through the edge – ideal for mixed papers and collage-style books.
You’ll be guided step by step to create your own handmade notebook.
In this workshop, you’ll:
- Learn the fundamentals of Japanese stab stitch
- Make a small practice book
- Create your own larger stitched notebook
- Work with your own papers or our curated studio materials
Feel free to bring your own artwork, prints, or paper scraps – or use our selection of card and materials provided.
Evening sessions have a cosy, social atmosphere, with refreshments available from our bar throughout the workshop.
You’ll leave with a finished notebook and the skills to keep making more at home.
You can find out studio on the railway ramp that sits above Deptford Market Yard. The ramp is accessible from Platform 1 of Deptford Rail Station (behind the lifts) or from Deptford High Street next to SALT Bar.
