About this Event
Dr Lachlan Urquhart, Senior Lecturer in Technology Law and Human-Computer Interaction at Edinburgh Law School, has co-edited the second edition of Law, Policy and the Internet, published by Hart Publishing/Bloomsbury alongside Emerita Professor Lilian Edwards (Newcastle University), currently a visiting scholar at Edinburgh, and Dr Catalina Goanta of Utrecht University.
This second edition covers an expanded range of digital topics, with a particular emphasis on the regulation of AI, platforms and information. Its 14 chapters include contributions from scholars at Cambridge, UCL, Sussex, Essex, Leeds and Glasgow, alongside the editors, and cover topics including also copyright, privacy and data protection, adtech regulation, social media, chatbots, the gig economy, cyber security, and surveillance and policing.
We are happy to invite all colleagues and interested onlookers to a launch on Thursday December 10 at 3pm in the Usha Kasera Lecture Theatre where all three editors and some contributors will discuss the state of AI governance, why everyone’s talking about digital sovereignty, how to deal with an increasingly unreal world, what we least expected to happen in 2026, and what might happen in 2036 (if we last that long).
Luckily, after that there will be a wine reception.
Copies can be purchased, and inspection copies requested, from Bloomsbury's website.
