About this Event
Lecture 5 of the Orchard OCD Lecture Series
This lecture focuses on Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), a serious and often under-recognised mental health condition associated with high levels of distress and barriers to accessing effective care.
The evening will bring together lived-experience, clinical, and research perspectives to explore how BDD affects individuals and families, why it can be difficult to recognise and treat, and how current research is working to improve pathways to care.
Speakers:
- Professor David Veale (South London and Maudsley NHS Trust; King’s College London): consultant psychiatrist leading a national service for severe, treatment-refractory OCD and BDD
- Dr Elizabeth Hogg (UCL): clinical research fellow and clinical psychologist, working to improve the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of BDD
- Katrina King (BDD Foundation): co-facilitator of the BDD Foundation’s “Overcoming BDD” programme, with lived experience of BDD
The event will conclude with a panel discussion and audience Q&A, bringing together speakers from different perspectives.
The lecture will be followed by a complimentary drinks and light dinner reception.
