About this Event
BLUE HERON
Sophy Romvari's semi-autobiographical feature film Blue Heron won Best Canadian Discovery Award at TIFF and the prestigious Rogers Best Canadian Film Award.
Set on Vancouver Island in the late 1990s, it follows eight-year-old Sasha (Eylul Guven) and her Hungarian immigrant family settling into a new life in Canada.
But their fragile peace is disrupted by the increasingly perilous behaviour of Sasha’s oldest brother Jeremy.
Later an adult Sasha revisits fragments of her childhood experiences through home videos and memories confronting the grief and silence that shaped her family.
Watch for the very evocative and poignant ending.
