Exploring Georgian Medicine and Surgery with Anthony Delaney and Cat Irving
About this Event

Join historian, author, and broadcaster Anthony Delaney and anatomist and human remains conservator Cat Irving for an exploration of the fascinating and, often unsettling, world of Georgian medicine and surgery.

Set against a backdrop of scientific innovation and profound social change, this event will uncover how advances in anatomy and surgical practice transformed both medicine and society. Through stories of anatomical theatres, pioneering surgeons, body procurement, dissection, and the lived experiences of patients and practitioners, Anthony and Cat will explore how medicine intersected with questions of class, crime, ethics, and the body during one of history's most transformative periods.

Whether you're fascinated by medical history, curious about the Georgian world, or interested in the stories behind some of history's most extraordinary scientific developments, join us for an engaging evening of conversation, discovery, and debate.
