About this Event
The exhibition features original prints created using 62 custom woodblocks developed from illustrations by LAND Studio and Gallery artists, Pratt faculty, and students. Situated at the intersection of creative art therapy, printmaking, and industrial design, the blocks serve as both craft objects and functional art-making tools. The project uses digital fabrication to expand access to historically significant craft traditions while developing an interdisciplinary pedagogy rooted in community-centered creative practice, collaboration, and collective authorship.
On view at Pratt’s DeKalb Gallery for two weeks in November 2026, Block Party transforms the exhibition space into an open, accessible site for creative exchange, collective making, and visual dialogue across communities. Free and open to all, the event invites visitors to drop in, print, and participate.
Organized and led by Swati Piparsania, Assistant Professor of Industrial Design, in partnership with Matthew Murphy and Meredith Stein of LAND, in collaboration with Sam Vernon, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, Pratt Institute.
Supported by Participatory Ecologies, School of Art, and LAND.
Special thanks to Christian Adamik.
