About this Event
The Black Nurses and Midwives UK CIC (BNM UK) Summit will provide a safe, inclusive and supportive space for students, healthcare support workers, nurses, midwives and allies to connect, share experiences and build meaningful professional relationships.
The summit will feature presentations and panel discussions led by experienced nurses and midwives working across corporate healthcare, education, research, technology and digital health. Attendees will have valuable opportunities to learn, exchange ideas, explore career pathways and network with like-minded professionals, organisations and advocates.
We warmly invite you to join us for the inaugural of BNM UK Beacon of Light Awards Ceremony, as we celebrate five years of the BNM UK network and its events. The ceremony will recognise and honour the outstanding contributions, achievements and excellence of our colleagues, including students, healthcare support workers (HCAs), nurses and midwives who continue to make a meaningful difference in healthcare and the communities they serve.
About BNM UK
BNM UK is a thriving community of healthcare professionals and students, united by a shared passion for nursing, midwifery and equitable healthcare. We are committed to empowering one another through shared experiences, professional development and collective support, while championing excellence, inclusion and representation across all levels of healthcare.
BNM UK was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the aftermath of the death of George Floyd. This was a period of unprecedented challenges for healthcare professionals, with many experiencing redeployment, unfamiliar working environments and heightened emotional pressures. For some, these challenges were compounded by feelings of being unheard, unsupported or overlooked.
Recognising the importance of solidarity and shared understanding, Black nurses and midwives came together to support one another, share their experiences and create a sense of belonging. What began during a challenging period has grown into a supportive network built on connection, empowerment, professional growth and a collective commitment to positive change.
As we celebrate five years of BNM UK, we reflect on the relationships built, the voices amplified and the impact made, while looking ahead to a future in which every healthcare professional feels valued, supported and empowered to thrive.

Join us on 24th April 2027 for a day of professional development, meaningful connections and celebration, culminating in an evening dedicated to recognising excellence and outstanding contributions across nursing and midwifery.
