About this Event
Jeanette R. Davidson joins us to celebrate her book Black Lives in Scotland, a celebration of the unique lives and identities of Black Scots.
Drawing together a range of stories of Black Scots, including immigrant families and long established communities, Black Lives in Scotland relates poignant stories of challenge, love, hostility, support, vulnerability, strength, abandonment, resilience, empowerment, and accomplishment, within the context of Scotland's spotted racial history and present complex social and cultural reality, all told from the perspective of someone who herself grew up Black in Scotland.
Jeanette will be discussing her experiences as a Black Scot, the research that went into the book and the stories of the Scots included, and more, before signing copies.
