About Richie Brave:

Richie Brave is an accomplished South London–born journalist, presenter, broadcaster and cultural tastemaker whose work sits at the intersection of media, culture and public conversation. Grounded in over a decade of grassroots work, he has built a reputation for fearless interviews and razor-sharp social commentary that challenge audiences to think, reflect and engage with the issues shaping modern Britain.

He is the host of 1Xtra Talks, the award-nominated flagship weekly talk show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, widely described as “the biggest group chat of the week”. Since taking the helm, Richie has transformed the programme into a vital forum for candid conversations about politics, culture and identity. Known for his disarming style and incisive questioning, he creates space for honest dialogue on the cultural forces, ideas and debates shaping contemporary Britain.

Richie’s guest list reads like a roll call of contemporary icons, including Whoopi Goldberg, Ryan Coogler, Angela Bassett and Michael B. Jordan. Alongside major cultural figures, he has also interviewed influential political and institutional leaders, including Sir Mark Rowley, the head of London’s police force, as well as a former officer from Secret Intelligence Service (MI6).

His versatility extends well beyond radio. Richie has co-hosted TalkRADIO’s Sunday morning current affairs programme alongside Penny Smith, presented news for BET UK, and contributed to projects with Channel 4, Dazed Media, BuzzFeed and Lush Cosmetics. A committed writer as well as broadcaster, he has written for ELLE UK and is a contributing author to the acclaimed anthology Black Joy. He also narrated the short film Men Don’t Cry, an exploration of men’s mental health, and regularly moderates live panels and cultural events across the UK.

Alongside his broadcasting career, Richie has fronted award-winning national campaigns for NSPCC and GambleAware, using his platform to highlight issues including child protection and responsible gambling.
