Black Eye Film Club presents **Bridgett M. Davis’ *Naked Acts* (1996)**, a funny, intimate, and deeply perceptive film about body image, vulnerability, desire, and what it means to be seen.Cicely, a young actress preparing for her first major film role, learns that the part requires a nude scene. What seems like a professional decision quickly becomes much more personal, forcing her to confront her relationship with her body, her mother, intimacy, and the expectations placed upon Black women both on and off screen.
Made independently in the 1990s and largely unavailable for decades, *Naked Acts* has recently been restored and rediscovered as an important work of Black independent cinema. Bridgett M. Davis brings humor and tenderness to questions that still feel strikingly contemporary: **Who gets to look? Who gets to decide what is beautiful? And what does it mean to feel at home in your own body?**
