Bob Blackman MP, the All Party Parliamentary Group for British Hindus and SHYAM cordially invite you to a historic talk on the Bhagavad Gita at the UK Parliament, Dhruv Chhatralia’s 450th talk and SHYAM’s 15th birthday celebrations being celebrated in one evening at the UK Parliament on Wednesday 3 June 2026 from 6pm to 8pm in the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House, 1 Victoria Embankment, London SW1A 2LW.
About the significance of the event
This event will mark Dhruv Chhatralia BEM’s 450th public talk and the 15th anniversary of an epic journey that began in 2011 when Dhruv Chhatralia BEM gave his first public talk in the City. The event will feature an inspirational talk by Dhruv Chhatralia BEM on chapter 2 of the Bhagavad Gita. It will be hosted by Padma Shri Bob Blackman MP.
Dhruv Chhatralia BEM is an author of 21 books on Hinduism and he has given over 440 public talks of over 500 hours between them on spirituality including on the Bhagavad Gita, Hanuman Chalisa, Ramayan, Shrimad Bhagavad, Shree Suktam, Devi Mahatmaya, the Upanishads, the Vedas, Yoga and Meditation that are watched in over 161 countries around the world, with over 400,000 views on YouTube and over 320,000 fans on facebook. Dhruv is the first person to give talks at the UK Parliament on each of the Bhagavad Gita, Ramayan, Hanuman Chalisa, Shrimad Bhagavatam, Shree Suktam and Devi Mahatmaya.
Dhruv was included in Her Majesty The Queen’s 2020 New Year Honours List for the award of a BEM for voluntary service to Hinduism and developing young people. The Times of India publication listed Dhruv Chhatralia BEM as one of the Top 10 Outstanding Leaders in 2024. He has spoken on Hinduism at the British Army, House of Commons, House of Lords, Home Office, BT, PricewaterhouseCoopers, EY, Nomura International Bank, Barclays Bank, Macquarie Bank Group, EDF Energy, State Bank of India, CMS Cameron McKenna, Intercontinental Hotel, AasthaTV channel, BBC nationwide television, BBC radio, the Commonwealth Journalists Association, Nusoundradio, TeluguVani radio, Kings College London, and at community halls in Central London, North London, Croydon, Leyton, Kingston, Luton, Nottingham and Ipswich. A live Yoga session by Dhruv Chhatralia in the City was televised nationally on BBC national television.
On 7 August 2014 Dhruv made history after successfully completing 154 weeks and 225 hours of continuous 140 weekly talks on the Bhagavad Gita after three years, at an event described by a Member of Parliament as "a triumphant moment in the history of Hinduism" and by the former Deputy Prime Minister as "a historic completion". On 24 February 2016 Dhruv made history by speaking at both Houses of the British Parliament in one evening.
Dhruv wrote the longest ever English commentaries on the great Indian works the Bhagavad Gita, the Hanuman Chalisa and the Shree Suktam in history, between them comprising over 3,467 pages, over 2.4 million words and over 10.5 million characters between them. All the proceeds from these books went to charity.
He then created a programme of over 180 Bhagavad Gita, Hanuman Chalisa and Shree Suktam classes in English to educate youngsters about the Eastern scriptures. He made history by completing a sacred Gita Gnyan Yagna of 140 weekly talks on the Bhagavad Gita at a City law firm over the course of three years, which were attended by thousands of young professionals in the City.
Dhruv set up SHYAM as an educational not-for-profit organisation to empower and educate individuals of all backgrounds with the wisdom of Eastern culture and provide a practical means to lead a life of excellence, success and inner wealth.
Dhruv's work appeals directly to young people. He has embraced social networking and created a facebook page (www.facebook.com/gitaclass) which now has over 320,000 fans.

About the significance of the talk
The talk will explain a modern approach to the Bhagavad Gita and how we can practically apply it in our daily lives. The Bhagavad Gita will be taught to you in a rational, scientific and practical manner so that you can apply the teachings to create a beautiful, enriching and powerful life for yourself.
The Bhagavad Gita is not just a scripture that is worshipped or to be placed in a holy place. It is a book of life, it is the science of life and it is a book of psychology. There is not a single problem in life of which the solution is not given in the Bhagavad Gita. We will go on a journey of finding the Truths of life through the Bhagavad Gita and through the preaching of ShreeKrushna.
We always feel that the day on which each youth of the world, each individual of the world and each educated person of the world will have the Bhagavad Gita in their hands, the world will not have any problems. This is because ShreeKrushna says that the situation may be adverse but it is entirely our choice to be unhappy or not. We unnecessarily draw unhappiness and sorrows towards us in adverse situations and even in favourable situations. We are the masters of our happiness and we are the masters of our sorrow. The Bhagavad Gita preaches to us the key, the science, the process, and a Divine Journey towards our own happiness, towards our own success in life and towards our own fulfilment in life.

5. No cameras. Photography, using mobile devices are allowed in Committee Room only during the above event, but no photographs of other parts of the parliament.
