About this Event
Learn from scratch how to make a Turkish folding book! Fold a simple square that blooms into a star!
There is something inherently satisfying about a book that hides a secret. The Turkish folding book appears as a simple square, but with one motion, it blooms into a sculptural, multi-dimensional star.
In this workshop, we’ll move beyond traditional linear pages and explore the intersection of origami and bookbinding. This hands-on session walks you through the step-by-step process of measuring, folding, and casing-in this unique binding. Whether you are a seasoned binder or a paper-craft novice, you will leave with a completed book and the skills to recreate this structure in any size, perfect for hidden messages, miniature illustrations, or a unique travel keepsake.
In this workshop, we will cover:
- The geometry of the "map fold."
- Creating durable, decorative hardcovers.
- Precision folding and alignment techniques.
- Ideas for filling your sculptural pages.
