A course of workshops exploring creativity through meditation, play and experimentation
This six-week course explores the space between creative practice and meditation practices, finding ways in which each can enhance and inform the other.
We'll use meditation to explore new ways of creating, and creative practice to explore attention, imagination, embodiment and wellbeing. Through guided meditation, drawing, visualisation, creative experiments and playful exercises, we'll explore what happens when we let go of the pressure to make something "good" and instead focus on the experience of making.
This isn't just an art class, and it isn't a traditional meditation course. It's an exploration of what happens when the two practices meet.
A different way of practising
Throughout the course, we'll work with a few simple principles:
Process over outcome. The point isn't to make something impressive. The process itself is the practice.
Curiosity over judgement. There is nothing to get right. Follow what interests you and see what happens.
Play over perfection. We'll experiment, disrupt, make mistakes and occasionally mess with the rules.
Be well to create well. Creative practice doesn't have to come from struggle. Attention, wellbeing, curiosity and play can all become part of a sustainable creative life.
What to expect
Over six weeks, we'll explore attention, receptivity, embodiment, imagination, expression and transformation, developing practical ways of combining meditative and creative practices.
Each session will combine guided meditations with creative exploration. Activities may include:
-Guided meditation and somatic practices
-Tapping into the subconscious with automatic drawing
-Visualisation and imaginative exercises
-Creative experiments and playful provocations
-Group reflection and discussion
You don't need to be an experienced meditator or an accomplished artist. The emphasis is on exploration rather than skill, and the exercises can be approached at whatever level feels appropriate to you.
Who is it for?
The course is deliberately designed to bring together two perspectives.
Perhaps you're an artist or creative practitioner interested in discovering how meditation could support your creative process.
Or perhaps you're interested in meditation, mindfulness and wellbeing and are curious about how creative practice might become part of that exploration.
The course brings these perspectives together, creating space for you to share ideas, learn from one another and discover practices that can work in both directions.
Come with an open mind. Leave with some new ways of paying attention, creating and being.
Practical information
-The course takes place over 6 weeks on Thursday evenings, starting on 05/11/26 and ending on 10/12/26
-Each session lasts 2 hours, from 18:00 to 20:00
