Built of venom and corroded bone, Bestial Mouth's new album DEAD LINES (Lineas Muertes) drives home the pain and struggle the world has faced in the last years, excoriating our broken systems and the wretched people who run them. Written by frontwoman Lynette Cerezo together with Brant Showers (AAIMON/ Sølve) and once more featuring production from Zola Jesus collaborator Alex DeGroot, Dead Lines vibrates with a constant tension between suffocation and eruption, a lurking feeling of being pinned under the weight of systems designed to erase and pacify. Identity becomes contested, flensed to expose how deeply the violence is embedded in the structures we're forced to navigate. The album's title slices twice: a final timestamp on a planet choking in heat and hatred, and a personal crucible in which Cerezo's voice lacerates the air with woundscapes of stolen rights and systemic rotYet it rejects pure nihilism by shrieking empathy as resistance. "We knew this was going to be an emotionally heavy one coming into the process, says Showers. "The pervasive hopelessness and rising doom in our political climate as well as the erosion of human rights we continue to see has weighed on us deeply over the past years, fully informing the energy in this new release. It's a communal crying spell, absorbing, directing, and validating everyone's pain and fears." That sense of pressure runs straight through DEAD LINES (Lineas Muertes.) Lyrics circle around reclaiming what's been taken, turning tools of control into weapons of defiance. Everything pushes forward aurally and politically, gnawing and spitting at traders in fear and division, distraction and extraction.
