About this Event
Brevitas is. . . new poets, accomplished poets, working poets –– teachers, mothers-to-be, social workers, factory hands, office folk and arty folk. People obsessed –– with words, stanzas, meter, alliteration. We share online, twice a month. A poem or two, under 14 lines. Once a year we have a festival to share the year’s work. This year, as part of the 250th anniversary of the nation and the Smithsonian’s national Festival of Festivals, we are publishing and reading from our new anthology, Best of Brevitas. The reading with the short poems projected will be followed by an open mic – and a heartfelt invitation for young poets who write short form work to join and consider applying to become part of this generative poetry collective.
