Vaughn, a young Murri man, escapes from a low-security prison farm after learning that his mother is seriously ill. Brought together by circumstance, the two set out across regional New South Wales with little money, little trust and very different attitudes toward their Aboriginal identity.
Ivan Sen's acclaimed debut explores identity, displacement and connection in contemporary Australia. Drawing on his own childhood, Sen crafts a deeply personal road movie that explores racism, self-perception and the search for human connection. The film established Sen as a major Australian filmmaker and earned him the AFI Award for Best Direction.
