$20/15After nearly a decade living and touring Europe, Pete Ross & The Sapphire return with their self-titled album — a collection that traces the band’s journey through their years overseas while marking their return to Australia.
Formed in 2011, the Australian and New Zealand duo is now based in Sydney after performing extensively across France, Spain, Germany, Italy and beyond. Their music found a home with acclaimed French label Beast Records, releasing “Rollin’ On Down The Lane” (2012) and “The Boundless Expanse” (2015), while continuing to build a reputation through live performances and festival appearances.
The new self-titled album draws from that period, bringing together selected recordings from the band’s previous releases alongside tracks that have remained unreleased until now. It includes fan favourite “Devil Inside”, a live staple and signature song for the band, as well as “Have You Seen The Incubus?”, which was selected for Germany’s Eclipsed Rock magazine CD sampler.
The album also reveals another side of the band with “Somebody To Love”, their guitar-driven interpretation of the Jefferson Airplane classic featuring Susy Sapphire on lead vocals. Other highlights include “Mockingbird”, “Pleased To Meet You”, “Oh Jonah” and “The Devil Runs Me Dry”.
Rather than presenting a conventional retrospective, the album reflects the range of Pete Ross & The Sapphire’s work across those years — from blues and folk influences to darker, more expansive rock arrangements and songs shaped by the experience of life on the road.
“Pete Ross and The Sapphire” is a natural point of transition: a record that closes the door on one significant period of the band’s history while leaving the next one wide open. The self-titled album is released 1 October 2026 on 12” vinyl through Australian labels Outtaspace Records (vinyl) and I-94 Bar Records (CD) and on all digital streaming platforms.
