Pottery Hand-Building Workshop: Create Your Own Mug, Jug or Vase.

Join local artist Helen McCormick for a relaxed and creative pottery workshop at The Walronds.

Learn the traditional hand-building technique of slab building as you create your own unique mug, jug, vase or bowl from clay.

Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience working with clay and would like to develop your hand-building skills, this workshop offers a friendly and supportive space to create.

During the session, I will guide you step-by-step through the traditional technique of slab building. Using rolled slabs of clay, you'll design and make your own functional ceramic piece – whether that's a mug for your morning coffee, a beautiful vase or a practical jug.

The final part of the workshop focuses on surface decoration. You'll have the opportunity to apply coloured decorating slips and experiment with sgraffito and carving techniques to add pattern, texture and personality to your work.

If we run short of time, you'll have the option to take your piece home to finish and return it to me at a later date for firing. We can discuss the best option during the class.

The focus of the day is on learning new skills, meeting like-minded people and, most importantly, having fun.

• All clay, tools and equipment.
• Coloured slips.
• Tea and coffee provided throughout the workshop.
• Professional kiln firing and glazing of your finished piece.

• An apron and old clothes you don't mind getting a little messy.

After the workshop, I will carefully take your pottery home to be dried, kiln-fired and finished with a transparent glaze to enhance your decoration and make your piece functional.

Collection: Your work will be ready to collect from The Walronds approximately 6 weeks after the workshop. I will contact you with specific dates and times once everything has been fired.

Please note: Finished work can be stored for up to 6 months before being donated to charity.

I understand that plans can change, but as a small micro business (only me), last-minute cancellations are difficult to fill. My policy is as follows:

• 14 days or more before the event: Full refund of the ticket price provided.
• 7 to 13 days before the event: Refund of the ticket price (minus the booking fee) OR a ticket transfer to a future workshop of the same value ONLY if I am able to fill your space.
• 3 to 7 days before the event: 75% refund of the ticket price ONLY if I am able to fill your space (minus the booking fee). No ticket transfers.
• 2 days (48 hours) before the event: 50% refund of the ticket price ONLY if I am able to fill your space (minus the booking fee). No ticket transfers.
• Less than 48 hours or No-shows: No refunds or transfers can be offered.

If I have to cancel the workshop for any reason, you will receive a full refund.

Venue: The Walronds, Cullompton.

FREE Parking for Participants: Available at the rear of the building.

Directions: Turn up Tiverton Road from the High Street, then turn left onto Shortlands Lane (just before the fire station). Follow the narrow lane a few yards, turn left at the car park sign, and go through the gate.
