Class Description
This beginner-friendly adult sewing class introduces participants to the basic operation of a sewing machine through a simple, seasonal project. Students will learn the fundamentals of machine sewing while creating a Halloween-themed cauldron-shaped mini pouch that they can take home at the end of class.
The class will begin with a brief introduction to the sewing machine, including basic parts, threading, machine setup, and safe operation. Students will then apply those skills to constructing their pouch, learning the basic steps of following a pattern, sewing seams, and assembling a finished project.
Students Will Learn:
- Basic sewing machine parts and functions
- How to safely operate and control the machine
- Basic machine threading and setup
- How to sew a basic seam and maintain a consistent seam allowance
- How to backstitch and secure seams
- Basic pattern and fabric preparation
- How to follow simple construction steps
- Basic techniques for turning and finishing a sewn project
Finished Product: Halloween Cauldron Mini Pouch
Each student will create a small cauldron-shaped pouch with a fun Halloween-inspired design. The project is intentionally simple and approachable, allowing beginners to focus on developing basic machine confidence while completing a recognizable finished item.

Skill Level: Beginner / No Previous Sewing Experience Required

I love helping people discover just how fun and approachable textile arts can be—whether you’re trying something new for the first time or looking to expand your creative toolbox.
In my classes, you’ll learn practical techniques in a relaxed, welcoming environment where curiosity and creativity are encouraged. My goal is for everyone to leave with a unique project they’re proud of, new skills, and the confidence to keep creating long after class is over.
