Season 2027 Packages are on sale now. Single tickets will go on sale on Monday, 9 November 2026 at 9am.Inspired by the countryside outside Vienna, Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony evokes the peace and tranquility he found in nature. “No one can love the country as much as I do,” he once wrote.
Birdsong is faithfully recreated in the score: the nightingale by the flute, the quail by the oboe, and the cuckoo by the clarinets; while cellos imitate undulating water in a murmuring brook, the double basses, timpani and trombone clatter out a fierce storm.
Meanwhile, with the witty and subtle Eighth, Beethoven breathed new life into the symphonic genre, and its surprising turns are willfully deceptive right from the opening bar.
Written for the 250th anniversary since Beethoven’s birth, Anna Clyne’s Stride is a humorous and virtuosic response to the great master’s driving energy and vitality.
