About this Event
La Ofrenda 2026: A Day of the Dead Celebration
Join us for an evening of remembrance, art, and community. La Ofrenda is a meditation and celebration honoring our ancestors and loved ones who have passed, bringing together the Mexican tradition of Día de Muertos and the Gullah Geechee tradition of the Lowcountry in this sacred season.
What to expect
- Live music with Delia Chariker
- Art exhibition by Marina López
- Art making inspired by the Gullah bottle tree, plus a community altar
- Food and drinks
What to bring
- Photos: Copies of photos of your loved ones who have passed, to honor them on our community altar. (Please bring copies, not originals.)
- Blue glass bottles: Bring any clean blue glass bottles you have for our art-making project. In Gullah tradition, blue bottles are hung on bottle trees to catch and hold spirits, and they carry the memory of our ancestors.

Te invitamos a una tarde de memoria, arte y comunidad. La Ofrenda es una meditación y celebración en honor a nuestros ancestros y seres queridos que ya partieron. En esta temporada sagrada unimos la tradición mexicana del Día de Muertos con la tradición gullah geechee del Lowcountry.
Qué habrá
- Música en vivo con Delia Chariker
- Exposición de arte de Marina López
- Taller de arte inspirado en el árbol de botellas gullah, y altar comunitario
- Comida y bebida
Qué traer
- Fotos: Copias de fotos de tus seres queridos que ya partieron, para honrarlos en nuestro altar comunitario. (Por favor, trae copias, no originales.)
- Botellas de vidrio azul: Trae las botellas de vidrio azul limpias que tengas para nuestro taller de arte. En la tradición gullah, las botellas azules se cuelgan en los árboles de botellas para atrapar y guardar a los espíritus, y llevan la memoria de nuestros ancestros.
