About this Event
The resonating theme of this walk is the regeneration of landmark industrial and entertainment architecture. The route passes no fewer than two repurposed power stations and two entertainment venues undergoing transformational redevelopment.
We start at the newly revitalised Battersea Power Station, and then follow the Thames through the broad avenues of Battersea Park before continuing to Chelsea Reach, with its houseboats and embankment terraces. Our lunch stop is at Imperial Wharf, within sight of Lots Road Power station, the second of the day. We continue into West Brompton Cemetery, a Victorian garden cemetery rich in memorial architecture, tree lined paths and famous names. The walk continues past the Earl’s Court regeneration sites before finishing at Olympia. Here we can see how the historic exhibition halls are emerging from major restoration work. Many cafes and restaurants are open here with some providing panoramic views across West London. So there are plenty of options for refreshments at the end point. The walk is just over 6 miles long.
Note that the meeting point is roughly opposite the Art’otel on Circus Road West at Battersea Power Station.
