About this Event
Bats are some of our most fascinating and most highly adapted animals here in the Valley. They are often attributed with very negative traits and stories, but the truth is usually much more interesting and sometimes even stranger than the fiction. Come learn about our bat species of the RGV and what makes them special and beneficial.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Thomas Forwood is the superintendent at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park in Mission, TX. He was a ranger and naturalist professionally for 10 years in Montana and has been a de facto naturalist since his childhood where he grew up in Pennsylvania. Birds were his first passion, but as a park ranger in Montana he worked at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park where bats were a big part of education and messaging. He delivered countless bat programs and has now brought that knowledge and enthusiasm for some of our most unique mammals with him to South Texas.
