HONORING NATIONAL PALLIATIVE AND HOSPICE CARE MONTH THIS NOVEMBER
South Texas Health System invites you to attend the 2026 STHS Palliative and Hospice Care Conference, a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals to expand their clinical knowledge, strengthen their caregiving skills and connect with a multidisciplinary network of providers dedicated to delivering compassionate, person-centered care. Through expert-led presentations and interactive discussions, participants will gain valuable insights into the latest practices,
challenges and innovations in palliative and hospice care.
Objectives: At the conclusion of this continuing education conference, participants will be able to:
• Explain the principles of palliative and hospice care, including advance care planning, symptom management, nursing care and interventions in the general inpatient hospice setting.
• Discuss the legal and ethical considerations surrounding end-of-life care, including the determination of brain death and withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment.
• Review Medicare guidelines for General Inpatient (GIP) hospice care.
• Identify effective bereavement counseling strategies to support patients’ families and caregivers.
• Explore the unique considerations and best practices in pediatric palliative care.
Target Audience: This activity will be of particular interest to all physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, residents, nurses, social workers and other allied health professionals.
Methodology: Live lectures, expert presentations, case-based learning and interactive discussion.
