BASICS: Long Arm Quilter with instructor Johanna
This Basics class will run approx 1 hours and is designed to cover the foundational knowledge needed to use the equipment detailed.
Longarm quilting at LMS is the process of using a large, industrial-sized sewing machine mounted on a 10ft frame to stitch together a quilt top, batting, and backing into a finished quilt. Unlike domestic sewing, the user moves the machine across a stationary quilt, allowing for faster quilting of large projects
What you will learn in this class:
- Overview of machine and parts
- Compatible materials and thread types
- How to load the machine
- How to thread the machine and bobbin
- Importance of tension
- Basic stitching for your quilt
Members who complete this BASICS course will be considered proficent and may use the Longarm Quilter during open hours.

Please visit to view all LMS policies. Prior to your first class, be sure to familiarize yourself with the User Agreement/Code of Conduct and Liability Waiver. The Liability Waiver must be signed in person at the front desk before participating in any activities at Lacey MakerSpace.
LMS provides all necessary safety gear, including safety glasses and other PPE.
Closed-toed shoes are required at all times at the Lacey MakerSpace.

Member Note: LMS has a $10 no-show fee for LMS members who don't show up for the classes they sign up for. These fees will be charged to the card we have on file. This fee is being implemented due to a pattern of members not showing up to our classes. Our classes have a limited number of slots and we want to serve as many attendees as possible.
