About this Event
BASICS: Belt, Disk & Spindle Sanders with instructor Chris Douglas
This class will cover basic operations for the badge-in Belt, Disk and Spindle sanders at Lacey MakerSpace.
A benchtop belt sander is best used for rapid material removal, shaping wood, and smoothing edges, flattening surfaces, squaring up end grain, refining curved cuts on small-to-medium-sized projects
A benchtop disc sander is designed forprecision shaping, smoothing, and squaring edges of small wood.
A spindle sander is used for smoothing, shaping, and finishing curved, contoured, or intricate wooden edges and inside cuts. Its primary function is to eliminate saw marks on concave and convex shapes.
The instructor will outline the steps involved in choosing your sander, positioning your piece, operating the equipment and getting quality results
Class attendees will then get hands-on practice with each of these tools.
Successful completion of this course will qualify members to use the badge-in sanders independently at LMS.
There is a $10 no-show fee for LMS members who don't show up for the classes they sign up for. These fees will be charged to the card we have on file. This fee is being instituted because we have had a pattern of members not showing up to our classes. Our classes have a limited amount of slots and we want to serve as many attendees as possible.
