Prior to the ball with Duo De Schepper-Sanczuk and Bamako Express, we will have a musicality workshop given by Saskia Sportel.
Musicality and improvisation: how can you bring more musicality into your dancing? How do you improvise to the music together with your dance partner? How do you use these tools when you can’t quite hear the music, or when you hear something special and want to express it? Both leaders and followers have freedom and creativity in this. To achieve this, we’ll be playing with various tools, such as rhythm, bounce, frame, speeding up or slowing down, isolations and listening exercises.
The ball promises plenty of cheerful, swinging and creative vibes, so after this workshop we’ll be ready to let loose! 💃
About the teacher:
Couple dances, regional dances, more (or less) traditional… bring it on! Saskia has been teaching Balfolk for over 15 years, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Her teaching style is open, clear and refreshing, with a good dose of humour and all sorts of handy mnemonics. The aim is to have fun, both during the workshop and on the dance floor.
