What this session is
Session 2 of IoD Guernsey's three-part series, "Better Directors in an Age of AI" — building toward the IoD Economic Growth Conference on 18 November. Rapid technological shifts demand a fundamental evolution in how boards approach risk, regulation and governance. Directors don't need to become technical experts, but they must set the risk appetite and culture that let responsible innovation thrive — confronting the reality that today's AI models are the least capable they will ever be.
This executive session offers practical guidance on balancing technological opportunity with rigorous oversight: how risk frameworks must adapt to accommodate AI, cybersecurity and digital assets, real-world friction points holding adoption back, and actionable lessons from heavily regulated sectors.
