Women have had disproportionate rules and limits placed on our behaviour and the way we live our lives in patriarchal societies for too big a chunk of history. To dare to step out of line and rebel has historically been the only way for women to claim agency and the chance to live extraordinary lives. We may be maligned or punished for it, but to not take the chance is not an option. Come see the proof of that onstage at Revival on May 9!
Bad Girls of History is not a show about good girls, but it's also not a show about true villains. This is a no-fascist zone. This is a show celebrating messy, complicated, brave, rebellious, adventurous women who made an impact by refusing to be meek and subservient. And what better way to celebrate them but through the only art form that truly applauds women behaving the opposite of how we're supposed to in public: burlesque!
