Beats Pacifik is proud to present Back 2 Back, a night dedicated to the inability to plan. Pairing the island’s finest selectors going Back 2 Back with The Guru, with little practice andno planned sets to bring the full spontaneity of professionals reading the dancefloor. Back 2 Back features a mix of genres to take you on a journey through the spectrum of electronic music.
This time around we are proud to present an all Drum and Bass edition of Back to back, featuring Gospel of Her, Halal Beats and Slight going back to back with none other than The Guru all night long. Slight will be bringing the melodic and soulful side of Liquid DNB to the table as he pairs with the lighter smoothness Guru brings. Next Halal beats will be bringing an eclectic mix of all things DNB as we transition into the cerebral rolling heaviness that only the one like Gospel of Her can bring to the dancefloor. This time around we’re bringing nothing but gun fingaz flying, feet stomping, eyes closed and dancing like no one is watching Drum and Bass quality to The Downbeat. Join us for some bass quaking grooves as we once again go back to back all night long. If you have been there for any edition of Back 2 Back, you know this is a night of spontaneity. Typically most of us have rarely played together, and we won’t be planning anything other than keeping the vibes high while the feet keep moving.

Gospel of HER is becoming a household name in the Drum & Bass scene out of Victoria B.C. Her deep, yet energetic sound has been gaining recognition not only through festivals and shows in Western Canada, but also worldwide through her Soundcloud set list. She has shared stages with artists such as Kanine, Kumarion, DEGS, Eskei83, and many more.
Gospel of HER has also expanded into collaborative sets and has Dj'd for one of our favourite Island violinists; KYTAMI on a couple of occasions. Gospel of HER performances deeply connect to every listener with dark rollers and heavy bass vibration. During one of her sets, you will be transported into soulful transformation through sound. Gospel of HER is not an artist you want to sleep on... she is lighting up the dance floor like you didn't know you needed.

Nevertheless. a few more set backs and the odd achievement later, Halal Beats has managed to create something thats much harder to forget under a bus seat. A twisted blend of all his favourite genres followed up with a unique style of stitching them all together. Hip Hop, House, Breaks, and Techno, seem to take the lead although you never know exactly what he's going to play next.

From the sunny beaches of Canada, emanating from the Zen Den a dulcet tone rings out. Hailing from a mystical land known as “The Basement, ” The Guru cultivated his love for music while scouring record collections. Through drums The Guru discovered a love for the rhythms that beat deep within us. Armed with a pair of turntables and a collection of music that rivals most libraries, he embarked on a journey to share his means of meditation with the world. His mission? To ensure that everyone gets to ride a sonic wave of ripping Amen breaks, pumping Disco drums and even the odd dub echo on a journey into music.
The Guru has been exploring and sharing the expanse of music since the late 90’s. A focus for Guru came in fostering true Jungle/DnB with Come Correct Sound Crew in Calgary, Alberta. As well as his time digging through endless crates in search of rare Roots Reggae and Dancehall, which he performed at both, Unity Sound Saturdays and the long runningDub at the Pub. The Guru played every venue in Calgary that existed since 2000, bringing his element to popular residencies, raves and club nights over his near 30 year career. With many festival appearances under his belt including Shambhala, Connect Festival, FozzyFest, Wicked Woods, Electric Sky Festival, OtherWorld along with many more and regular shows around the sunny shores of Victoria, Canada
The Guru’s steam is still rolling. With a stage presence and effervescence like few others, accompanied by the knowledge of a true veteran of the music world, a Guru performance is truly like none other.
