About this Event
How businesses certify to become B Corp is changing. Come and find out what the new standards mean for your business.
B Creative is a free three-part series for Cornwall’s creative sector, particularly B Corps getting ready to recertify or those exploring if certification is right for them.
We’ll unpack the new standards in practical terms and hear from local creatives with first-hand experience of the B Corp journey.
What we’ll cover
The new standards are divided into seven impact topics. This session will focus on the people and purpose part, which encompasses;
- Purpose & Stakeholder Governance: embedding your purpose, the legal requirement
- Fair Work: what this means for studios with freelancers and flexible workers
- Justice, Equity, Diversity & INclusion (JEDI): data monitoring and action planning at small scale
- Human Rights: a light-touch primer for micro/small service organisations
The session will be hands-on offering a chance to look at the requirements for your particular circumstances. We’ll take a closer look at the B Impact manager and Navigator tool and how to use them.
Who it’s for
B Creative is for limited companies based in Cornwall working in the creative and cultural sector.
Your business may already be a B Corp, considering certifying or you have some understanding of what B Corp is. You do not, however, need to be an expert.

What happens next?
If you want to continue learning after this session, you can sign up for the next workshop diving into planet and collective action:
11 November: Planet & collective actionAt CAST, Helston
This session will focus on the impact topics Government Affairs & Collective Action, Climate Action and Environmental Stewardship & Circularity and applying them to your own business, using B Lab’s tools and resources alongside other creative companies taking part.
What is B Corp?
B Corp is a certification and framework that helps businesses understand and improve their impact.
It considers how a business treats people, its environmental impact, how it is governed and the role it plays in the wider community.
For a small creative business, that can offer a useful structure for applying your values in practice. Certification also connects you with a growing community of B Corps in Cornwall and further afield.
Under the new standards, the previous points-based model has changed. Businesses now work across seven impact topics, with requirements shaped by their size and sector.
B Creative will make that language more relevant to the way creative companies actually work.
