About this Event
Fancy having a go at watercolour painting, or perhaps you’ve painted before and would like a friendly refresher?
Join Lisa Cooper for a relaxed and enjoyable 2.5-hour introduction to watercolour, designed for complete beginners and those who would like to revisit the basics and build their confidence.
This will be a friendly, small-group workshop with plenty of opportunity for individual guidance, questions and time to experiment.
Lisa will introduce you to the essential techniques of watercolour painting and help you get comfortable with the materials. You’ll explore:
- Getting to know your paints, brushes and watercolour paper
- How to control the balance of water and paint
- Creating washes and building up colour
- Mixing colours and experimenting with different combinations
- Wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques
- Creating different marks, textures and effects
- Simple ways to add depth and detail
- How to relax, experiment and enjoy the unpredictable nature of watercolour
There will be plenty of time to practise as you go and put the techniques you’ve learned into action.
There’s no pressure to create a “perfect” painting. The aim is to enjoy the process, learn some useful techniques and leave feeling more confident about picking up a brush and continuing with watercolour at home.
Who is it for?
Complete beginners are very welcome – you don’t need any previous drawing or painting experience.
The workshop is also ideal if you’ve experimented with watercolour in the past but would enjoy a refresher and some expert guidance.
