Leave winter behind and join us for a restorative morning of Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) and nature connection at Lauriston Castle Gardens
About this Event

Welcome to Mindfulness in Nature and Forest Bathing at Lauriston Castle Gardens!

As the first buds stir beneath the soil, we’ll reawaken our senses after winter’s rest through a gentle introduction to forest bathing - tuning in to our sense of renewal and possibility.

Set within 30 acres of stunning woodlands and gardens, Lauriston Castle Gardens offers an enchanting space to slow down, leave your worries behind, and to connect with nature.

Let the fresh air and greenery soothe your mind and body as you participate in guided activities designed to help you connect with nature.

Forest Bathing (from the Japanese ‘shinrin yoku’) is the calming experience of immersing yourself in nature under a canopy of trees, and being guided on a slow walk that encourages you to take in the forest through your senses.

Drawing on the specific practices of ‘shinrin yoku’, you will be guided through a series of relaxing sensory, breathing and mindfulness exercises to help you fully connect with nature. On our session, we will explore the wonder and beauty of nature during the changing seasons, the amazing world of trees, and better understand the science of how nature supports our wellbeing.

Whether you're a seasoned nature enthusiast or just looking to unwind, this event is perfect for anyone seeking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy an enriching moment of tranquillity.

Come and experience the healing power of nature with us!

The meeting place at the Group Gathering area by the Car Park. We intend to use Lauriston Castle Gardens for this session but if the weather is inclement, we may have to reschedule. Please wear comfy clothing with sturdy shoes, layers (if it’s cold), waterproofs in case it rains, and something to sit/lie on outdoors.

Your guide for the event is Dr Eve Hepburn, a certified forest bathing guide, academic researcher and author.

This event is being organised in collaboration with Lauriston Castle Gardens and Museums and Galleries Scotland. Pre-booking and advance payment are essential.
