Join botanical illustrator and printmaker Emma Bond at Sheppard & Daughters for a relaxed, hands-on introduction to Tetrapak printmaking, inspired by the rich colours and beautiful forms of the autumn garden.
We’ll be working with seasonal botanicals including nasturtiums, Japanese anemones, chrysanthemums and rudbeckia, using their distinctive shapes, textures and silhouettes as inspiration for our prints.
What you'll do
You’ll be guided through the whole process of creating your own small botanical Tetrapak print, from initial design through to the finished artwork.
We’ll explore:
- Looking closely at seasonal flowers and developing a simple botanical design
- Creating a printing plate from a recycled Tetrapak carton
- Using a drypoint needle to etch fine lines and botanical details
- Applying printmaking inks and experimenting with an autumnal colour palette
- Using a printing press to create your finished print
- Mounting your original artwork in a 10 x 15cm floating glass frame, ready to hang at home
There will be plenty of opportunity to experiment with colour, texture and layering, with Emma guiding you through each stage and helping you develop your own individual print.
Make something beautiful to take home
This isn't about producing a perfect reproduction or following a template. Your finished piece will be an original, hand-printed artwork made by you.
Inspired by Sheppard & Daughters' love of beautifully made objects for the home, we'll explore the pleasure of creating something by hand that is designed to be kept, displayed and enjoyed.
You'll leave with your own framed botanical print. A small, unique piece of artwork made during the evening, as well as your Tetrapak printing plate.
No experience needed
The workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous experience of drawing or printmaking. For adults and young people aged 13+ (accompanied by an adult).
All materials are provided, including inks, paper, recycled Tetrapak printing materials and your floating glass frame.
Just bring yourself and a willingness to experiment!
About Emma Bond
Emma Bond is a London-based botanical illustrator and printmaker whose practice centres on close observation of the natural world, with a particular interest in pattern, texture and colour.
Working primarily with recycled Tetrapak, she creates hand-built collagraph plates through cutting, scoring and layering, transforming an everyday material into richly textured prints.
Emma regularly runs workshops in galleries, gardens and creative spaces across London, introducing people to the tactile and accessible process of making original prints by hand.
