About this Event
ASAP – Autism Support Awareness Project & Mental Health
ASAP - Autism Support Awareness Project & Mental Health Awareness;
Let's Talk About Mental Health, Autism Awareness and Wellbeing
A welcoming space for awareness, connection, understanding and support.
DICM welcomes you to our ASAP Autism Support Awareness Project and Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme, bringing women together through fortnightly Friday sessions over 12 months.
The programme is designed for women of colour aged 35–50 living in South London and Surrey. We recognise that women can face many pressures while balancing family life, work, relationships, menopause, caring responsibilities and their own emotional wellbeing.
Our aim is to create a friendly, supportive and non-judgemental environment where women can connect, share experiences if they wish, learn about autism, discuss mental health and discover appropriate sources of support.
What will we explore?
Our combined programme will cover:
- Autism Awareness: Increasing understanding of autism and the experiences of autistic individuals and their families.
- Mental Health Awareness: Breaking the silence, challenging stigma and encouraging open conversations.
- Stress and Anxiety: Exploring everyday pressures and practical coping strategies.
- Depression and Low Mood: Understanding emotional challenges and recognising when additional support may be needed.
- Menopause and Emotional Wellbeing: Exploring emotional changes, self-care and support during midlife.
- Carer Wellbeing: Caring for others without losing sight of your own needs.
- Loneliness and Connection: Building relationships and strengthening community connections.
- Trauma and Emotional Recovery: Understanding the importance of emotional support and seeking appropriate help.
- Seeking Support: Signposting to relevant counselling services and community organisations.
- Faith, Hope and Wellbeing: Exploring hope, encouragement and positive approaches to emotional wellbeing.
What can you expect?
- A warm welcome in a relaxed and supportive environment.
- Opportunities to meet other women and build meaningful connections.
- Information and awareness around autism, mental health and wellbeing.
- Time to pause, enjoy a cup of tea and focus on yourself.
- Signposting to relevant support services where appropriate.
You do not have to share personal experiences or have all the answers. You are welcome to listen, participate at your own pace and connect with others in a respectful environment.
