The Sunny Side Up Children’s Film Festival is coming to Auckland these April school holidays!Designed especially for children aged 5–12 (but welcoming to all ages), this joyful, high-energy event showcases the magic of animated short films. Each 90-minute session features a carefully curated selection of award-winning short films, made for kids and guaranteed to entertain.
Between films, the fun continues with interactive games like Heads & Tails and Guess the Amount in the Jar, plus plenty of chances to win prizes. Kids are encouraged to get involved, have a laugh, and enjoy a cinema experience that’s anything but quiet and boring.
The festival is hosted and run by Milli Banbury, a 15-year-old filmmaker and festival director, who introduces the films and leads the games throughout the session. Sunny Side Up has been running successfully in Tauranga for four years and is expanding to a national tour in 2026, bringing its much-loved format to new cities across Aotearoa.
