We invite you to join us on Sunday, October 18th, at 3pm, for the Ram Dass Meet Up hosted by Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta (SLCA), at the Unitarian Universalist church campus: 2650 N. As always, we will chant (kirtan, call and response singing), listen to and discuss the Ram Dass teaching, and share a meal together.
Please consider volunteering! It's fun and easy. We can't do this without you! This beautiful gathering is truly community-run, and it comes alive through the care, presence, and participation of everyone who attends. Each of us helps hold the space: by bringing food, arriving with intention, volunteering when we can, and supporting the practical needs that make the gathering possible.
Please take a moment to read the notes below so we can plan well and care for the space together:
VOLUNTEER: We need help with set up, during the event, and especially with cleanup. Please see the email or message me and let me know if you can come early to help with setup, assist during the event, or stay afterward to clean up.
BRING: Please bring food to share — this is so important!! Food is nurturing on every level, and your contribution is a gift of service to all. If you want to sit on the floor, please bring your own props. You may also want to bring a cup with a lid for chai. Please bring a friend or two!
ARRIVAL: Please arrive early so you have time to bring your food to the kitchen, grab chai, say hello, and find a seat before we begin.
LOVE OFFERING: Donations will be gratefully accepted by Nandi Dass to help cover expenses. There is no charge to attend, but every contribution is welcome, even $5 helps. See www.nandidass.com
This month we’ll listen to a Ram Dass teaching titled “Being With What Is.” This teaching invites us into one of the great practices at the heart of Ram Dass’ work: learning how to be present with life as it is, rather than only as we wish it would be. Again and again, Ram Dass points us back to the place in ourselves that can witness, soften, open, and rest in the truth of the moment. Not because life is always easy, but because our freedom begins when we stop fighting with reality and begin meeting it with awareness, compassion, and love.
Together, we’ll listen, reflect, and explore what it means to bring these teachings into our actual lives.
