Please join the Mt. Diablo Astronomical Society for our November 17 general meeting featuring Aaron Manalaysay, a staff scientist in the physics division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, who will discuss the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment, which attempts to directly detect the elusive “dark matter” that makes up 85 percent of the mass of the universe. The LZ experiment has recently observed a single tantalizing signal that could be the first direct observation of dark matter. The meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. with a short “What’s Up?” by MDAS member Charlie Brown, who will discuss black holes. Our meetings are held in the Lindsay Wildlife Experience Community Room, 1931 First Avenue, Walnut Creek, CA 94597The Mt.
