About this Event
Topic: This presentation will provide a better understanding of Fire Protection Engineers and how best to utilize their knowledge. We will discuss their training, roles and how to leverage fire protection engineers during design. The presentation will also cover examples of different fire-rated assemblies, fireproofing requirements, coordination between the two disciplines, and common missteps & misconceptions in structural fire engineering design.
Speaker Bio: Raeshawn Kennedy is a registered professional Fire Protection Engineer and holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Raeshawn currently works as a Senior Engineer at Goodhead Consulting Engineers. With a decade of technical experience, Raeshawn has been involved in complex, large-scale performance-based design projects across various building types and project typologies. His project portfolio includes performing fire and egress modeling for transportation hubs and large population centers, such as domestic airports and arenas, across North America. Raeshawn’s technical experience also includes performing historic fire-resistance rating assessments for historic buildings and construction methodologies. Committed to advancing knowledge in the fire protection community, he has presented egress modeling research at an international performance-based design conference in Copenhagen, Denmark and is also a contributing author for the third edition of the SFPE Guide to Human Behavior in Fire.
