Join Susie, from Pots of Hope, and now Creative Potter in Residence at The Base, Greenham, to explore, experiment and have fun with clay.
2 day workshop, Part 2 on TUE 20 OCT – 10-12.30pm
Using a range of pottery hand-building and decorating techniques you will plan and develop your own ideas to create glazed, fired and finished stoneware pieces.
On the second day of this 2-part workshop your work from part one will be fired to bisque ready for you to add a range of fabulous brush on colours which you can also layer and combine for effect.
Expect a friendly relaxed introduction to working with clay and the opportunity to develop ideas of your own in the medium of clay with expert tuition and guidance.

What to Expect
Expect a friendly relaxed introduction to working with clay and the opportunity to develop ideas of your own in the medium of clay with expert tuition and guidance. Your work will be fired to bisque ready for you to add a range of fabulous brush on colours which you can also layer and combine for effect on the second day of this #2-part workshop. Immerse yourself in both the taster session and the jewellery workshop for two full days of creativity with clay.
What to Bring
Wear clothes you do not mind getting messy and bring an apron.
Bring a notebook or sketchbook and a pen or pencil.
Have neatly trimmed nails and tie back long hair.
You may also wish to bring sketches representing your ideas and/or textured items eg leaves, lace or small objects with a raised surface to imprint into your clay.

Nominal Additional Charges
Please note additional firing charges apply for all stoneware firings. This policy of making a nominal additional charge for the final kiln firing applies to all classes. It allows for the variation in firing requisitions from different course participants as well as the additional use of clay and glaze for any larger pieces.
- £7 per piece up to 15cm in height or width for stoneware firings
- plus £5 per 5 cm thereafter. This is payable directly to Susie on glazing day.
During the glazing session there will also be a range of sample brooch backs, pendant cords and ring backs available to purchase to order - to accompany the pieces made. It is the responsibility of the maker to attach these post firing using a 2-part epoxy glue or similar following the final firings and return of work.
All work will be packed, named and delivered to a collection point with the AFH team 4- 6 weeks after the end of the course – perfect timing for Christmas gifts.
