Sian Clifford, who was perfect as the insufferable older sister, Claire, in BBC Three’s wonderful Fleabag, makes a star turn as Lady Isabella, a middle-aged aristocrat who hires a young filmmaker to document her life in a stately home. A mockumentary that makes excellent use of the genre’s format, Lady takes a number of surprising and bizarre turns, moving out of the realm of the strictly believable without losing its genuine emotional heart. Clifford expertly walks the line between outlandish and sympathetic, and the plot is refreshingly unpredictable. Very strange, and very funny.
