About this Event
We will close the year with Barzakh, a solo show by Riyas Komu, Indian artist and curator, during Amsterdam Art Week. Riyas Komu will be in Amsterdam for the opening week of his show Barzakh and will host an artist talk at the exclusive preview. We have only limited spots for this event. The Public preview will be on 19th November. The show will be on view until 14th February 2027.
Barzakh is a state of in-between-ness, a threshold between this world and what comes after. For the artist, it becomes a way of thinking about art itself: a space between past and future, memory and experience, where the contradictions of history can remain open rather than resolved. The exhibition will present paintings from Riyas's Red Series, as well as sculptures, which raise profound and painful questions of war, death, displacement, memory, violence and justice. Komu has exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale, and is the ideator and co-founder of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. This is a free event with registration.
